In the empty bed lay a beautiful, varied landscape of cracked mud plates, sand, and stones in a wide variety of colors. Each stone had been rounded and shaped by the river\u2019s movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I <a><\/a>walked, it struck me that we are all like these stones\u2014shaped by the currents of our own lives. The thought made me smile. Until that moment, I had been picking up stones, sticks, and other little things only to let them fall again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But now I decided to take a stone for each participant of the five-day Heartbeat workshop around the winter solstice. A stone to remind us that life shapes us. And that when we dance, we are always dancing in a river of movement\u2014surrounded by the visible and invisible currents flowing around us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I continued, I found more and more beautiful, sometimes surprisingly large stones that seemed to smile at me. My backpack slowly grew heavier with all these treasures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I love the time that is approaching. The dark months have become nourishing for me, now that I\u2019ve found ways to follow the natural inward movement of this season\u2014and to make it a powerful and meaningful time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I\u2019m looking forward to dancing together soon, to taking time to build a strong field in which we can explore and deepen.
